Dragonfly Helicopters – How Are They Flown?
Dragonfly helicopters are remote-controlled helicopters with multi-blade system. Many manufacturers of remote-controlled vehicles, like Syma and Hughes, create Dragonfly helicopters for RC helicopter fanatics of varying levels of expertise. The Dragonfly model is known to be more stable compared to the RC helicopter systems with single blade which make them the perfect choice of toys for beginners. There are many techniques you can apply for an accurate and safe flying of a Dragonfly helicopter.
- Find an area where you can practice. Sandy plains or open-grass fields are perfect spots. Stay away from places with a lot of obstructions, like people, car or trees, as they may get in the way of your flying experience.
- Turn your Remote Control power on. If you don’t see the indicator light go on, replace the batteries found in the back compartment on the control’s bottom or back. Use the on/Off Switch to turn on the power of the Dragonfly helicopter.
- One hand should be used to tightly hold the helicopter’s base and the other to grip the remote control. Locate the accelerator stick found on the remote and press it up to check the speed of the blade. Utilize the stick found on the control’s right hand section for rudder testing. Make sure that every part of the Dragonfly is functioning properly before attempting a flight.
- Put the Dragonfly helicopter on the ground and move a few steps away from it. Gently press the accelerator stick upward to begin spinning the blades. Put additional pressure on the accelerator stick until you see your helicopter starts to soar and hover. Utilize the remote’s directional control stick to maneuver the Dragonfly in various directions. Avoid getting the helicopter more than 5-6 feet from the ground and limit it from going 25 feet away from your location.
- Bring the Dragonfly back to the ground and slowly set the accelerator stick to resting position. This will allow the helicopter to gently land. Check the blades of the Dragonfly after they’ve stopped spinning. Turn the weight balances and mechanisms to know if you need to adjust anything. Refer to the manual for a thorough instruction pertaining to specific adjustments needed.
