Some Facts regarding Storm Water Systems
Most people don’t have an idea how a storm water system works. Some people simply see them as a system that collects rain water and deposit it back slowly to land. Here are some facts about storm water systems.
One thing that storm water systems does that helps the environment is that they are made up of materials that help absorb harmful materials. If they are not absorbent, they are constructed in a way that makes the harmful sediments settle. Sometimes, these storm water systems filter out the water and separate those that can still be used to those that cannot. The way it does that is the walls are perforated so that means that the debris and sediments settle underneath and are not gathered by the water when collection starts.
Aside from filtration process of these storm water systems, they also are made for removal of harmful chemicals. They are treated in such a way that the system can easily cure the water; making it free of various chemicals like phosphorus, nitrogen, zinc, lead and other suspended solids. As compared to basic wetlands, a storm water system will do the job much more effectively.
